Hotel near Wright State features flight-inspired design

In honor of the region’s long history of aviation, a local hotel will feature an innovative design that embraces the beginning of flight.

The Holiday Inn, located near the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, relaunched its renovated space that features a new lobby, a farm-to-table restaurant, public corridors and meeting rooms.

The architectural firm, O’Kelly+Kasprak, expects the newly designed hotel will win prestigious industry awards. Belinda O’Kelly, lead architect, said the team was inspired by the iconic images of aviation — and by the Wright Brothers who started it all.

“We set out to create a space that perfectly translated the modern take on the turn of the century aviation influence,” O’Kelly said. “We enjoyed the amount of creativity it brought to our team and appreciate that we have a client that truly embraced the concept.”

The hotel includes a restaurant, Wright Place, with a farm-to-table recipe. The interior design includes large-scale hangar doors made from reclaimed wood, communal tables and chairs in the bar area and side-by-side lounge sofas.
