There might be hope for fans of a Dayton restaurant set to close in July.

Bethany Horn, the owner of Cheeky Meat Pies at 2nd Street Market, said she is in negotiations to sell the business.

Horn and the potential buyer are set to meet Thursday with representatives of 2nd Street Market, 600 E. Second St., to discuss the possibility of the business continuing at the market.

The potential buyer, a downtown Dayton resident, asked to defer public comments on the matter until after details of the sale are solidified.

Cheeky Meat Pies specializes in New Zealand-style meat pies.

Horn and her husband Aaron announced that the business would close last weekend on the Cheeky Meat Pies website.

Bethany Horn, a veterinarian, took ownership of Agenbroad Veterinary Clinic in 2013. She said she did not have time to operate both the clinic and Cheeky Meat Pies.

“I had to make a choice,” the Tipp City resident said. “Unfortunately, Cheeky had to be the one to go.”

The Horns opened Cheeky Meat Pies five years ago in the market.

“I hate to shut it down,” Bethany Horn said.

She said her vet business has become her main focus and she hopes to add a second location in downtown Dayton.

“It’s slowly been building and it’s where I need to spend more time,” she said.

The couple closed Tasty Measures Cafe at 200 S. Jefferson St. last July after six months in business.

Horn said then that sales at the deli were too slow to justify staying in business.

The couple also formerly operated the snack bar Silver Fern Café at RiverScape MetroPark.
