Huber Heights BBQ restaurant to reopen in new location after shutting down

Al's Smokehouse Bar & Grill, a locally owned and independent barbecue restaurant, is looking to reopen on Brandt Pike after operating for slightly less than a year at the former TGI Fridays on Old Troy Pike in Huber Heights, founder Al Shamburger said Wednesday, Jan. 8.

If all goes well with the new location, the successor restaurant could open in the coming weeks, probably in February, Shamburger said today at the new restaurant site, located at 6185 Brandt Pike in the Marian Plaza in Huber Heights.

“Look Who’s Back,” reads a hand-lettered sign in the window of the Brandt Pike space. “New & Improved Big Al’s Smokehouse.”

Another sign promises a “limited” menu that would include ribs, pulled pork, brisket, burgers, chicken wings, Philly cheesesteak and assorted sides.

Meanwhile, the former TGI Friday’s space that Al’s Smokehouse vacated at 7777 Old Troy Pike in an outlot in front of the Waynetowne Plaza is for lease again. The TGI Fridays shut down on Labor Day in 2017.

Shamburger is also the founder and owner of Al’s Smokehouse Carryout & Catering in Springfield.
