Huber Heights City Council approves projects that will lead to store openings on Old Troy Pike

The dining and coffee options in Huber Heights will soon be growing.

The Huber Heights City council on Dec. 2 voted unanimously to approve new projects that will lead to the opening of the Dayton area's third Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers restaurant and a new Starbucks location within about a block of each other on Old Troy Pike, according to Scott Falkowski, assistant city manager for Huber Heights.

Plans call for the new Raising Cane’s  to open at 7841 Old Troy Pike, the site of a former PNC Bank branch that closed in April. The new Starbucks, which will include a drive-through, will be built on the tract of land that formerly housed Cadillac Jacks at 7720 Old Troy Pike.

“Both of these sites, just south of I-70, had businesses that closed, and the opportunity was there for redevelopment,” Falkowski told this news outlet in October. “It’s a positive sign that these businesses are looking to grow within the Huber Heights community.”

“We are excited to continue to grow in the Dayton area and bring Raising Canes to the Huber Heights community,” Eric Ongaro, president of Raising Canes Ohio, said. “The Huber Heights location was very interesting to us, as it boasts a very diverse area with a great foundation of community resources ... .”

The goal, Ongaro said, is to open the new restaurant in 2020. No timeline was immediately available for the Starbucks project.
