Kettering trash, recycling rates to increase for first time in 3 years

Kettering residents will see a rate increase for trash and recycling services according to city officials, and Waste Management said the new rates will be effective July 1.

According to Waste Management, the rates will increase by 3 percent. The company said it is the first hike in rates in three years.

Kettering’s contract with Waste Management, which has been handling trash and recycling services for the city for the past 15 years, permits fee adjustments every few years, according to city officials.

The contract does offer a reduced rate for income eligible and age qualified seniors. To be eligible for the Qualified Senior Citizen Service, participants must be 65 years or older and have an adjusted gross income of less than $30,000 based on previous year’s tax returns.


Effective July 1, the following monthy rates reflect the 3 percent increase for trash and recycling services provided by Waste Management to Kettering residents:

Standard Curb Service - $13.82

Premium House-side Service - $30.81

Qualified Senior Service curbside - $6.91

Qualified Sernior Service house-side - $15.41

Addistional cart rental fee - $4.08/per cart
