Charles Cooke will return to the Dayton Flyers for his senior season and withdraw his name from consideration for the NBA Draft, UD announced Tuesday.
Cooke, a 6-foot-5 guard from Trenton, N.J., led the Flyers in scoring with 15.6 points per game. He announced April 21 he would submit his name for consideration for the draft but did not hire an agent, leaving open the possibility of returning to UD. He had until Wednesday to withdraw his name.
By exploring the NBA option, Cooke was able to work out for the Boston Celtics and get feedback on his NBA potential. Dayton coach Archie Miller said in early May he expected Cooke to return to the Flyers unless he was guaranteed of being drafted.
With Cooke’s return, the Flyers will have four seniors starters back from a team that finished 25-8. Scoochie Smith, Kyle Davis and Kendall Pollard are the others.
