Box Office record-breaking Wright State grad screening new film about pro-life activist

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (Friday, March 29, 2019): 

The film "Unplanned" produced by Springboro resident Joe Knopp will be screened in two theaters at the Cinemark Theaters at the Greene in Beavercreek through at least next Wednesday, April 3, a theater representative told this news organization.

Additional dates will be determined Tuesday based on how well the movie performs.

The film is also being screened at several other Dayton area movie theaters.

ORIGINAL REPORT (Thursday, March 28, 2019): 

A Springboro resident behind a film that grossed $83 million at the box office will host an opening night meet and greet at The Greene tonight, Thursday March 28, for his latest work.

Producer Joe Knopp will host a screening of the film, "Unplanned," beginning at 7 p.m. at the Cinemark Theaters, 4489 Glengarry Drive, Beavercreek.

The film is about Abby Johnson, an abortion clinic director turned pro-life activist, according to a press release.

“We’ve been promoting the film all around the country and I’m excited to share the impact this true story has with my home community,” Knopp says as part of the release.

Knopp was a producer for 2018's "I Can Only Imagine." 

That film  follows the life of Bart Millard, lead singer of the Christian band MercyMe.

Millard was inspired to write  his mega-hit song “I Can Only Imagine” by his father’s death from cancer.

"I Can Only Imagine"  is among the  top 10 highest grossing faith-based films of all time on the movie site boxofficemojo.com.

The movie has racked in $83 million at the box office.
