2 locally owned stores to host grand openings Friday at the Mall at Fairfield Commons

Two new retail stores founded and owned by a local family will host their grand openings this Friday, June 5 at the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek.

Curve & Cloth, a clothing boutique, and Burlap & Birch, a home décor store, initially opened their Beavercreek stores in early March, but were forced to shut down and cancel their original grand-opening plans when state officials ordered all non-essential retail stores to shut their doors in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Both new retail stores are affiliated with Rose & Remington, a fast-growing fashion and accessory boutique retail chain founded by Lebanon-based mother-daughter pair Dee Alexander and Kristen Ponchot and co-owned by Nate Alexander, Dee’s son and Ponchot’s brother. Rose and Remington opened its first location in downtown Lebanon in 2013. It now operates nine locations in Ohio, including one in the South Towne Center east of the Dayton Mall, as well as three in Indiana and two in Kentucky.

Family members have said they plan to open 40 additional locations in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and surrounding states in the next few years.

Curve & Cloth is described by Mall at Fairfield Commons officials as an affordable clothing boutique for women sizes XL-4X. It is located on the lower level of the mall, near Round1 Entertainment. Friday’s grand opening will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will include fashion showcases and deals on the newest arrivals, mall officials said. Curve & Cloth carries other items such as home accents, candles and gifts.

The store’s grand opening also is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

Leanne Rubosky, general manager of The Mall at Fairfield Commons, said in a release that the past year “has been one of incredible transformation” for the retail center in northern Beavercreek, thanks to additions such as Curve & Cloth and Burlap & Birch, both of which chose The Mall at Fairfield Commons for their first Dayton-area stores.

Morris Furniture Co. will open a location at Fairfield Commons later this year. Basil’s on Market is on track to open a restaurant in the former Flyboys Deli space near the mall’s entrance in July.
