More than 800 challenging new property values in Montgomery County

More than 800 owners have already challenged the tax value of properties this year with the Montgomery County Board of Revision. And there’s still time to appeal, if you think the newly-reassessed tax value of your property is too high or too low.

Montgomery County property owners have until April 2 to file a formal appeal with the county, and the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office is holding three more informational workshops so property owners can learn about the Board of Revision values appeal process and what evidence to prepare for a hearing.

The Board of Revision (BOR) is a quasi-judicial body in county government and is responsible for conducting hearings to determine the taxable value of property. It allows individuals to present evidence to suggest a need for a change in a property’s value. Representatives from the County Treasurer, County Commission president and County Auditor sit on the board.

Final property values were released by the Auditor's Office in December. The final updated values are also online at www.mcrealestate.org.
