Naked Dayton native 'Bachelor' on VH1 nude dating show

A Dayton grad is all grown up, naked and dating on TV.

Yeppers, you read right.

Former Dayton Christian High School basketball standout David Dees seems to be very comfortable with his body.

The former Warrior has to be.

Dees spent three months on the Pacific island of Bora Bora in French Polynesia dating more than 20 naked women for the third season of VH1's "Dating Naked."

The show premieres tonight at 9 p.m.

Bits and giggles are blurred out, but Dees was naked for pretty much the duration of the 12-episode series.

"I am the 'Naked Bachelor,' " Dees, a Dayton native who now lives in Smyrna, Georgia, told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "It was phenomenal. This was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

Now 31, Dees stars on the show with 24-year-old Natalie Jansen of Milwaukee.

He told the AJC that he had to get over being naked and going on dates with women who were also, well, naked.

"People tend to become overwhelmed and consumed with physicality because you're naked. It provides a whole different context in dating," he said.

He evidently learned where to look and for how long.

"I kind of felt like it was my responsibility not to look like I was staring at everything right away. I didn't want to make them more uncomfortable. But you have peripheral vision. The more dates you have, the better (chance) you have at seeing more sooner," he said.

Dees was All-Ohio Division III Player of the Year as a senior at Dayton Christian.

According to a 2002 Dayton Daily News article, Ralph Grant, then Dayton Christian's basketball coach, said he thought of  Dees as a "controlled" basketball player who remained cool, calm and collected.

Dees went on to play for Liberty University and later the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, from where he graduated.

He had a love of basketball long before that.

When he was a 13-year-old eighth-grader at Dayton Christian, Dees named the 66 books of the Bible during a trivia contest that mixed basketball questions with more worldly ones among the 200 or so campers in 1998, according to a Dayton Daily News article about Jimmy Jackson basketball camp.
