A new knitting and crotchet store is set to open next week in Centerville.

Centerville Knit & Crotchet, located at 8018 McEwen Road, has scheduled its grand opening for Aug. 23. Owner Beth Thorowgood said the shop will supply high quality yarns for knitters and crocheters of all skill levels.

For Thorowgood, the store opening is passion turned into fruition. As a Navy veteran, she moved to Ohio with her husband in 2012.

“I was still working for the government and I just found myself feeling really unhappy and thinking about opening this shop,” she said. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and it’s finally happening.”

The store is about 1,600 square feet of retail space. Two employees have been hired, and Thorowgood hopes to hire more.

The store will also host classes and workshops focusing on fiber arts.
