A new and locally owned restaurant and bar called the River Rock Bar & Grille is in the works overlooking the Great Miami River in Piqua.
“Are you guys ready to Rock the River with us?” the new restaurant coming to 5795 County Road 25A asks on its recently launched Facebook page.
River Rock co-owner Brad Adams told this news outlet that the restaurant’s founders “fell in love with the building, which is right on the (Great Miami) river. And it has a lot of years of history” as The Springs Supper Club, Adams said. The space has been vacant for about a year and a half after the Heck Yeah Sports Bar & Grill closed its doors in early 2018.
Adams is co-owner of the River Rock Bar & Grille along with his mother, Deb Adams.
The new restaurant will seat about 170 and will employ 25 to 30, Adams said. On Monday, the restaurant started accepting applications for server, hosting and bartending positions, and advised applicants to send a private Facebook message through the restaurant’s page.
Plans call for opening in two to four weeks.
River Rock will offer a full menu that will range from traditional sports-bar fare such as wings and burgers through entrees that will include crab cakes and steaks. “There is something for everybody on our menu,” Adams said.
The restaurant’s bar is expected to have a full wine list, signature cocktails and 15 taps that will spotlight local breweries, Adams said. Plans call for bringing in local bands and entertainment. A private events room will be available for business meetings and Christmas parties. And the restaurant has a patio.
Adams is also the owner and operator of two ice cream shops in Piqua: Tasty Treat and Bobo’s Frozen Creations.
