Northmont senior earns leadership award, gets UD scholarship, internship

Cameron Rucker, a Northmont High School student athlete, was selected to receive the 2018 W.S. McIntosh Leadership Award through the University of Dayton.

This award is named after William Sumpter, a well-known leader in Dayton who led major civil rights movements after observing the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Cameron describes himself as a student-athlete but with the emphasis on being a student. Rucker maintains a 3.946 grade-point average.

Cameron plans to study mechanical engineering in the fall at UD and play for the school’s football team.

The McIntosh Award will cover Cameron’s tuition, room and board and is renewable for four academic years. It also covers a four-year internship with the City of Dayton.
