St. Paddy’s Day is on a Saturday. Last time, Dayton got rowdy.

Green beer and shamrocks aren’t the only St. Patrick’s Day traditions in Dayton.

Every year, some people go overboard with alcohol and partying and end up with a mean hangover or, worse, a jail stay.

And this year is a special case because St. Paddy’s Day falls on a Saturday, which hasn’t happened in six years.

When the holiday is on a Saturday, there tends to be more revelers out at the bars than usual, because people don’t have to take the day off from work to celebrate.

St. Paddy’s Day last fell on a Saturday on March 17, 2012.

Dayton Municipal Court records show there were 29 people in the city who were charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and open container violations that day.

That’s more charges than the last three St. Paddy’s Day holidays combined. And Dayton’s added a variety of new breweries, bars and places to drink since that time.
