PHOTOS: Dayton Arcade rebirth continues, as first floor slab completed and windows restored

The latest Dayton Arcade construction progress update features the completed first floor slab of the rotunda, now making it possible for future visitors to walk the entire length of the rotunda under the glass dome. The first floor hasn't been intact since a hole was cut for "The Menu" basement food court in 1986. 130 cubic yards of concrete were poured to return the floor to its 1904 opening configuration. The rotunda first floor will be a future event space and the ceiling of The Tank, an in the round theater that will be located in the rotunda's basement. Drywall, insulation and bathtub/shower installation work on The Arts Lofts at The Dayton Arcade inside the Ludlow and Fourth Street buildings is now underway. The majority of the historic windows in the lofts have been re-installed after a restoration process. Approximately 90 percent of the windows in the complex are able to be saved.
