SNEAK PEEK: Condado Tacos opens its 1st Dayton-area restaurant at The Greene

Columbus-based chain offers free taco with purchase on opening day

Condado Tacos brings its build-your-own-taco-from-the-shell-up concept to the Dayton area today, July 9, when it opens its first Miami Valley location at The Greene Town Center.

The restaurant is located at 4482 Glengarry Drive, in space that previously housed EO Burgers.

Opening day comes with some grand-opening deals and promotions: starting at 11 a.m., guests will receive a a free taco with any other purchase. In addition, diners who post their taco photo to Instagram with the hashtag #condadothegreene will be entered to win one of 25 $100 gift cards.

Seating on opening day will be on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required inside the restaurant or on the patio, Condado Tacos officials said in a release.

Condado offers more than a dozen signature tacos with pre-determined ingredients, but its build-your-own concept is a popular option with diners, can choose from among a hard-corn, Firecracker or “Kewl Ranch” hard shell, a soft flour shell, or various combinations, including a soft flour tortilla lining a hard corn shell, which is then lined with bacon refried beans, guacamole and sour cream.

Protein choices include roasted chicken, ground beef, chorizo, braised beef, pulled pork, tequila-lime steak, Thai Chili tofu, roasted portabello mushrooms, barbecue pulled jackfruit, rice and black beans, or scrambled eggs. A variety of toppings, cheeses, salsas and sauces are then selected to top the tacos.

The restaurants offer several signature margaritas and a variety of tequilas and bourbons. The new restaurant at The Greene has 14 beer taps, which include craft beers from local breweries such as Lock 27, Dayton Beer Company, Yellow Springs Brewing and Sonder.

Hannah Vlk, marketing manager for Condado Tacos, said diners can utilize an online waiting list available at condadotacos.com to prevent overcrowding and help restaurant-goers maintain social distance.

Online ordering will be available starting Monday, July 13, Vlk said.

The restaurant chain opened its first restaurant in 2014 in Columbus and now has 16 locations in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Detroit areas. Additional locations are planned in the coming months in the Deerfield Twp./Mason area and in suburban Cleveland.
