Township contest aims to help restaurants, jobs in COVID-19 shut down

Miami Twp. is holding a contest aimed at supporting local restaurants during the Ohio stay-at-home order due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participants are asked to use any item provided with a restaurant meal to build a creation of their choosing with the winner earning a $50 gift certificate, according to the township.

“We decided it would be a great way to support some of our local businesses while giving people an opportunity to get creative while they are stuck at home,” township Community Development Director Chris Snyder said.

Entering the contest is also a way that could help save food industry jobs, he added.

“Those are the businesses, primarily, on the retail side that are still open,” Snyder said. “So we really wanted to help support the smaller businesses. Some of them are struggling to make ends meet while they try to wait this out.”
