Tree-lighting event tonight part of 5 family fun events next 2 weeks

Four local communities north of Dayton are planning five family fun events for the Christmas season from Nov. 28 to Dec. 8. You can meet Santa, see lots of lights and more.

Brookville

The Brookville Chamber of Commerce will host the Sixth Annual Chamber Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting tonight.

Downtown Brookville will be open to visit local businesses, get pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus and listen to Christmas music.

The tree lighting is at the Samuel Spitler House on Market Street from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Another event in Brookville is Christmas in the Park on Dec. 7 at Golden Gate Park on Upper Lewisburg Salem Road from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This event will have carriage rides, Christmas music, cookies, hot chocolate and Santa and Mrs. Claus. The park will be bright with Christmas Lights. The Community Theater will put on a Christmas play at three times, and those who attend will need a ticket.

Clayton

Santa is coming to the Meadowbrook of Clayton on Dec. 8.

Meadowbrook of Clayton will host a pancake breakfast with Santa. There are 200 tickets being sold. Admission for children 10 and younger is $4 and for adults $7.

If you want to skip the pancakes, Santa visits start at 10 a.m. Admission is free to see Santa.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Meadowbrook of Clayton located on Salem Avenue.

Vandalia

The Vandalia Recreation Center will host the Vandalia Tree Lighting on Dec. 2 at the Rec Center.

The tree will be decorated through community efforts. There will be free refreshments, music and even Santa Claus.

The tree lighting event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rec Center located on Stonequarry Road.

Trotwood

The city of Trotwood and the Trotwood YMCA will host their Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 8.

There will be food vendors, raffles, Christmas Carols and a visit from Santa with pictures.

This event is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Trotwood Government Center on Olive Road.
