Vandalia’s Star Spangled Celebration set for Tuesday

Vandalia and Butler Township residents will come together Tuesday at Star Spangled Celebration, a community event to celebrate the Fourth of July.

The event is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Vandalia Sports Complex on Stonequarry Road. The fireworks show will start at 10 p.m. and is put on by Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks.

Thousands of people come to this celebration each year, according to Vandalia Communication Manager Rich Hopkins.

“They bring their lawn chairs and make an evening out of it. The Butler football team uses the event as a fundraiser, and they sell glow sticks,” Hopkins said. “Most neighborhoods surrounding the sports complex have backyard parties in full swing. And the fireworks show is about 25 minutes long, accompanied by patriotic music.”

The city and township will have different food vendors that sell hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, frozen custard, snow cones and more summer foods.

The Tyler Cochran Trio will perform live throughout the evening.
