Who took the most Link Dayton bike trips this winter?

Brave Dayton souls put their biking skills to the test during the Link Dayton's Winter Warriors Challenge.

Launched in December 2015, it challenged over 50 participants to stay active during the winter months -- and to see who could take the most Link trips between Dec. 4 and Feb 26.

Opening day of the competition winner Tom Jagles proved a tough competitor by racking up trips at 5 a.m. and staying consistent throughout the competition.

Runner-up James Muhammad gave Tom a run for his money, achieving 180 trips in one day period. That's the most trips taken in a 24-hour period by all Dayton Link riders and any B-Cycle rider.

"The Winter Warrior contest was a fun way to keep in shape during the cold winter months," said Jagles at the awards ceremony, which took place at Oregon Express on March 2. "The competition was fierce at the end. I had a blast!"

“We’ll definitely be bringing the competition back next year,” said Chris Buck, Link's Business Development Manager. “The program was a huge success. Watching the whole thing play out was very exciting, and we hope to inspire even more members to ride next winter.”

Notable businesses and organizations, such as New Belgium Brewing Company and Bonbright Distributors, were on hand with door prizes.

The Second Street Market donated $50 in Market Bucks to the First Tier Prize, and UD Athletics donated four UD Men's Basketball tickets for the 2016-2017 season to the Second Tier Prize. Third Tier Prize winner took home a free Link Annual Membership and Link swag. Link also offered mini challenges throughout the competition featuring local favorites: Ghostlight, The Neon, Confetti, and RiverScape MetroPark Ice Rink.
