WORTH THE DRIVE: Cirque du Soleil brings latest show to Cincinnati — and it’s on ice!

Cirque du Soleil has created a new spectacle on ice that opens in Cincinnati next week.

AXEL, the tale of a young graphic artist and musician, features spectacular ice skating, breath-taking acrobatics, pop-rock music and vibrant visuals creating an immersive experience for the whole family.

The newest Cirque du Soleil creation brings a new look to the world of ice skating by introducing visitors to the discipline of freestyle skating, according to a release.

 

A fresh take on skating combined with the skill and power of traditional pairs, solo, and adagio work allows Cirque du Soleil to set the stage for high-caliber ice skating of all kinds.

The 45 members in the cast include 18 skaters, 23 acrobats, four musicians and one puppeteer. The show will be performed at Heritage Bank Arena (formerly U.S. Bank Arena) at 100 Broadway St. in Cincinnati.

There will be six performances:

Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 25 at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
