Man kidnapped from Tampa hotel found handcuffed in Jacksonville, police say

Police said a man was apparently kidnapped at a Tampa hotel nearly 12 hours before he was found handcuffed and injured in Jacksonville.

Tampa police say someone who was staying at the Sheraton Suites Tampa Airport Westshore location was awakened by a commotion in the parking lot.

He told police he heard a man screaming "No! Stop!" just after 1 a.m.

He said he looked out the window of his second-story room and saw a man standing outside a white van violently swinging his arm into the open sliding door.

The witness told police the screaming seemed to be coming from inside the van.

According to the report, the man who was outside the van got into it through the sliding side door and the van slowly pulled out of the parking lot.

When Tampa police got there, the van was gone. They found blood spatters in the space where it was parked.

Detectives began investigating the case as a possible abduction.

In Jacksonville, officers were called to the Ice Lounge at 8510 Lancrest Drive just before 1:30 p.m. Officers found a man handcuffed, calling for help.

The man told officers he had been kidnapped from Tampa. Police said he had injuries to his face and body.

The man claimed he had been held against his will at the Ice Lounge in Jacksonville, two miles away from where he was found.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Ice Lounge but no one was inside.

Tampa police and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are working together in investigating the case.

The victim is being described as a black male in his 30s.
