The incident occurred in Corpus Christi shortly after 6 a.m. the television station reported.

The woman told police she began arguing with her boyfriend while standing on her porch, KRIS reported. She said the man pushed her off the porch, jumped and began punching her in the face, the television station reported.

"While she was on the ground, she was trying to cover herself up, her 17-year-old son came outside with a bat," a Corpus Christi police officer told KRIS. "The boyfriend took the bat away from the son and struck the son several times in the back with the bat."

The woman suffered two black eyes, and her son was treated at the scene, police said.

The alleged assailant is described as a Hispanic male around 5 feet, 6 inches tall, wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans, KRIS reported.
