5 of 6 chihuahuas killed after being thrown from minivan, Michigan police say

LuLu was lucky. The other five chihuahuas were not as fortunate.

Deputies with the Allegan County Sheriff's Office are looking for a couple accused of throwing six chihuahuas out of a minivan window last week, killing five of them, MLive reported.

According to a post Wednesday on the Sheriff's Office Facebook page, a couple in a Silver Honda Odyssey were driving in Wayland Township on Feb. 6 when they tossed the dogs out of the window.

Witnesses brought the surviving dog, now nicknamed Lucky LuLu, to an animal shelter, MLive reported. They buried the other five dogs, according to the website.

Shelter officials contacted police Tuesday about abuse allegations, MLive reported. Sheriff's deputies will recover the dogs' bodies and will search for identifying information, Allegan County Undersheriff Mike Larsen told the website.

According to the Allegany County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the woman in the minivan was described as blonde, being in her 20s to 30s and "very skinny, missing teeth." The man was described as also being "very skinny," about the same age as the woman. He was also missing teeth and had "big curly hair."
