4 children missing in Alaska blizzard found

The search for four children who went missing in an Alaskan blizzard has ended with good news.

All four children, ages 14, 8, 7 and 2 years old, have been found alive after going missing Sunday.

They were found "cold, hungry and tired" and suffering from severe hypothermia Monday afternoon near Nunam Iqua, KTUU reported.

"At least three were appropriately dressed for the weather," state patrol spokesperson Megan Peters told CNN while the search was going on.

The village is home to about 190 people on the west coast of Alaska.

The children were reported missing Sunday evening after they didn't come home when expected in the early afternoon from a snowmachine ride, KTUU reported.

The children's mother told the television station that the outing was supposed to be short, but "It became an hour and the weather started being bad, and that's when we called for someone to go out and look."

Coast Guard and Army National Guard helicopters worked with search and rescue groups from the surrounding area were looking for the children during reduced visibility blizzard conditions, CNN reported.
