Carl Alois Hrabovsky is charged with sexual exploitation of children, criminal solicitation and furnishing tobacco products to minors, the Burke County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Authorities did not say what led to Hrabovsky's arrest or how long the alleged sexual exploitation occurred.

The former judge stepped down July 12 after he was notified of the criminal investigation against him by Burke County deputies and the GBI, authorities said.

Because of his previous position with the county, the case against him will be led by the GBI. Burke County is located about 30 miles south of Augusta.

Hrabovsky remains held at the Burke County jail without bond as he awaits his first appearance hearing, records show.
