Indiana man, 70, convicted of sex crimes after impregnating teen relative, officials say

A 70-year-old Indiana man has been convicted of sex crimes after authorities said he impregnated a teenage relative.

According to the Times-Union, a Kosciusko County jury delivered the guilty verdict for David E. Killian Sr. on Wednesday, more than a year after his July 2018 arrest on three charges of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Authorities said Killian began sexually abusing the girl in March 2017, when she was 14 years old, WXIN-TV reported. Police launched an investigation in August 2017 after the victim revealed to her father "that Killian touched her inappropriately," according to the news outlet.

The girl later told investigators that Killian's abuse included not only touching but also sex, WXIN reported. When she refused, he became verbally abusive, scaring her, the victim said.

In December 2017, authorities learned that the teen was in the third trimester of a pregnancy, and the baby was born the following month, according to WXIN and the Times-Union. DNA testing confirmed with 99.9999% certainty that Killian had fathered the child, authorities said.

Killian's sentencing is slated for October, the Times-Union reported.
