An Iowa man is behind bars after authorities said he sexually abused a teen and infected her and another woman with HIV.

According to the Gazette, police on Tuesday arrested Lamont James, 33, of Cedar Rapids, on two counts each of sex abuse and transmitting an infectious disease. He remains in the Linn County Jail on $50,000 bond, booking records show.

In June, the now-16-year-old victim told investigators that the sexual encounters with James began when she was 13, the Gazette reported. She later learned that she is HIV-positive and believes James, who has HIV but never told her, transmitted the virus to her, authorities said.

The girl's allegations came about seven months after another woman accused James of infecting her with HIV, KCRG-TV reported.

Prosecutors said James has known he was HIV-positive since 2011, according to the TV station.
