Jessica Simpson has been in the celebrity spotlight for over 20 years, but in her new memoir “Open Book,” she reveals details about her life that were previously unknown to the public.

In the book, reviewed by People, Simpson reveals that she was sexually abused from ages 6 through 12 by the daughter of a family friend.

More recently, Simpson became sober after developing a dependency on alcohol and stimulant pills, according to People.

“I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills,” Simpson writes in her memoir. She says she has been sober since November 2017.

In addition to the book and an audio version that she narrates, Simpson is also releasing six new songs, People reported. "Open Book" will be released Feb. 4.
