Kentucky woman faces murder charge after assault, pit bull attack, police say

A Kentucky woman has been charged with murder after she beat a man and commanded her pit bull to attack him, multiple media outlets reported.

According to WTVQ, police were called to a Rockcastle County home Friday and found Melissa Wolke, 38, straddling and punching a man while encouraging her dog to attack him as well.

The victim, 55-year-old Donald W. Abner was pronounced dead at the scene, NBC News reported.

According to a report released by the Mount Vernon police, Wolke told authorities she was "going redneck" on the victim, the network reported.

Officers were forced to use a taser on Wolke to disengage her from Abner, but she refused to call off the dog whom officers shot and killed on the scene, WTVQ reported.

A motive in the attack has not been released.
