2 killed, 1 injured in shooting at Texas A&M University-Commerce residence hall

Officials at Texas A&M University-Commerce said two people died Monday in a shooting at an on-campus residence hall that left one other person injured.

"There have been two confirmed deaths," officials said in a statement on the school's website. "The third victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment."

Update 12:36 p.m., Feb. 4: The University Police Department said the shooting was a targeted, isolated incident, officials said.

Original report: School officials cautioned students, staff and faculty to shelter in place Monday morning as authorities investigate the shooting at Pride Rock, a 3-story residence hall for freshmen. Classes were also canceled for the day, administrators said.

The shelter-in-place order was lifted around 1:30 p.m.
