Police said the group approached the man and a younger man to rob them, WCBS reported.
The men refused to give them anything and the group started beating them. One of the attackers tried to throw a trash can at a victim.
The group then left after taking just $1.
The 60-year-old man was taken to a hospital. The other man refused medical attention, WCBS reported.
