McDonald's has announced its first new breakfast sandwich in years, and it's inspired by a long-time secret menu favorite.

Starting Nov. 1, Triple Breakfast Stacks will be on McDonald's menus. The new breakfast sandwich comes with two sausage patties, two slices of American cheese, bacon and an egg. Customers can use McGriddles cakes, a biscuit or a toasted McMuffin to round out the item.

The meat-and-cheese-heavy sandwich has been well-known by McDonald’s workers, customers and the media as a secret menu option.

The new item is the first new breakfast sandwich for the fast food chain since 2013’s Egg White Delight -- an Egg McMuffin made with egg whites.

The meat-and-cheese-heavy sandwich has been well-known by McDonald’s workers, customers and the media as a secret menu item.

"Our customers have also told us they have been craving a bigger, more filling sandwich option in the mornings," Vice President of Menu Innovation Linda VanGosen said in a statement. "Triple Breakfast Stacks are the latest customer-led menu innovation, and we are proud to share them nationally for a limited time as part of our continued journey to build a better McDonald's."

Triple Breakfast Stacks will be available for a limited time at participating restaurants.
