In mid-May, an investigator spotted a bone fragment on the property, and eventually deputies were able to get a search warrant, seize the dogs and conduct a more thorough search. They found more small bone fragments and dog feces containing more bone and pieces of clothing, KDFW reported.
Forensic testing revealed the bone fragments and clothing belonged to Mack.
"During the course of our investigation, it was found that Freddie suffered from serious medical conditions," Sheriff Adam King told the news station
“So, we will never know if the dogs killed Mr. Mack or consumed him after he died from a medical condition. Either way, it is a very gruesome event, and we extend our sympathy to Freddy Mack's family," King said.
Mack’s dogs had to be euthanized because they were just too aggressive.
