The incident happened around 1 a.m. Thursday on the 6000 block of Connell Road in College Park, Georgia.

Officials said the mother of the girl found her sleeping with a gunshot wound to her leg.

Police said they found several bullet holes in the house.

The girl was taken to the hospital, Cpl. Maureen Smith said. The girl is expected to be OK.

Fulton County Police Chief Gary Stiles believes gang members shot into the house.

“I think it’s too soon for us to determine whether (the girl’s house was the target), or whether it was a mistaken house, or whether there’s anybody in the house that was a specific target,” Stiles said.
