North Carolina parents charged after toddler found malnourished with skull, brain injuries

Two North Carolina parents are behind bars after their toddler son was discovered malnourished and suffering from skull and brain injuries, authorities said.

According to WTVD, Jade Newman, 21, and Delane Bostic, 25, of Fayetteville, were arrested last week on intentional child abuse charges after they took the 2-year-old boy to a nearby hospital, where doctors found that the child had a fractured skull and ribs, as well as brain injuries.

Investigators also alleged that the boy, who weighed just 18 pounds, had resorted to eating his own waste, the news station reported.

Newman and Bostic are being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on $250,000 bond each, according to WTVD.
