President Trump to visit Daytona Beach during 500 race weekend

President Donald Trump is on track to visit Florida’s motorsports racing capital the same weekend as the Daytona 500.

Daytona Beach International Airport officials said additional security measure will be in place at the airport due to the president’s visit Sunday. They said normal temporary flight restrictions will also be in place due to the race.

Officials said regular air carrier service should not be impacted by either event.

The U.S. Secret Service tweeted Wednesday that they are securing Daytona International Speedway by providing a 30-mile "no drone zone" around the event.

The White House has not confirmed whether the president will attend the race, which is scheduled to start Sunday at 2:30 p.m. However, in an email to USA Today, Joanne Magley, a spokeswoman for Daytona International Speedway, said, "The president will be here for the Daytona 500. That is all of the information I have at this time."

Three sitting presidents have attended the Daytona 500: Ronald Reagan in 1984, George H.W. Bush in 1992 and George W. Bush in 2004.
