A 3-foot snake washed ashore Tuesday on a Florida beach, surprising beachgoers.
Animal control came and rescued the snake, the Pensacola News Journal reported.
"We walked over and couldn't believe it," Rhonda Saunders, who was at the beach with her daughters, told the News Journal. "(The snake) was exhausted trying to keep its head above the water. Too tired to get onto the sand."
Saunders believes it was a diamondback rattlesnake. However, Florida Fish and Wildlife officials were unable to identify it through Saunders' photos, the News Journal reported.
