A tour bus on its way back to Newark from Washington, D.C. slammed into an overpass, ripping the top off the vehicle.

The crash happened at 11:45 p.m. Sunday next to Newark's Penn Station, the destination of the bus, WABC reported.

The accident ripped off part of the roof, leaving the driver’s seat and first rows of the bus open.

Fifty people were onboard. Some were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. But all are expected to be OK.

The overpass has signs that tell drivers that the overpass only has a clearance of 9 feet, 4 inches. A tour bus is higher than that, WABC reported.

The bus was operated by Liberty Coach, Inc., WNBC reported.
