New doughnut shop opens in Huber Heights

A new Donut Palace has opened, the third location for the locally owned doughnut-shop operation.

The newest Donut Palace is located at 5115 Old Troy Pike in Huber Heights, in space that formerly housed Granny C's Bakery. Granny C's shut down in August 2015 after nearly six years in business, its owners citing financial difficulties.

Donut Palace also operates doughnut shops at 5264 Salem Ave. in Trotwood and at 100 N. James H. McGee Blvd. in Dayton. When the Trotwood location opened in September 2015, Donut Palace owner Monsour Issa told us he was looking to add more Dayton-area locations.

Issa, who told us last month he was utilizing the former Granny C’s space as a production bakery for his other two locations, confirmed that a retail doughnut shop is now open in the Huber Heights storefront.

Plans call for remodeling the space early next year to add ice cream, milkshakes, coffee shakes, smoothies, banana splits, sundaes and donut sundaes, Issa said this morning.

Hours for the region’s newest Donut Palace are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
