New downtown Dayton restaurant Table 33 will host an open house from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 7 in conjunction with the city of Dayton’s “First Friday” event.
But hungry diners will still have to wait a bit longer to explore the restaurant’s menu. Co-founder Chris Harrison said Table 33 is two weeks away from opening fully.
“We will actually take a week following the open house to gather ourselves and start doing limited hours and menu starting Oct. 17,” Harrison told this news outlet. “We are having a harder time staffing the restaurant then we originally thought.”
Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be available during Friday’s open house.
Initially, plans call for Table 33 at 130 W. Second St. to open only the bakery and bar part of the restaurant, followed several weeks later by the full-service restaurant portion of the business.

Table 33 will start out as primarily a breakfast-and-lunch eatery, serving dishes such as Chicken and Waffles, Sweet Potato and Chorizo Hash and French Toast, with a full lineup of coffees and fresh-pressed fruit juices, Harrison and co-founder Charlie Carroll said. The restaurant has obtained a liquor license and will open some evenings, particularly on show nights for the nearby Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, the owners said.
The restaurant will seat about 100 diners inside.
The space previously housed Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers, the Downtown Grill & Cafe, and, before that, the first incarnation of Sidebar lounge. The restaurant space has been vacant since August 2015, when Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers — which operated on South Jefferson Street for 24 years before relocating to West Second Street — shut its doors.
