PIZZA DISCOUNT: Pizza Hut offering 50 percent off, but there’s a catch

Pizza Hut is offering a 50-percent-off pizza promotion through Monday, Jan. 9.

Here’s the fine print: the pizza must be ordered online, or through the restaurant chain’s cellphone app — not in person or by phone. And the discount does not apply to tax or delivery charge, or, the pizza chain points out helpfully, to the driver’s tip.

"The weeks after the holiday season can be financially tight for many," David Timm, Pizza Hut's chief marketing officer, said in a release. "With this quick and easy offer, we're making sure Pizza Hut fans can enjoy the pizza they love without breaking the bank."

Here’s how the release describes the offer and how it works:

"To enjoy Pizza Hut's 50 percent off online flash sale, consumers can visit PizzaHut.com or download the Pizza Hut Mobile App for iPhone and Android and click the 50 percent off deal tile. The offer will be available for all menu-priced pizza orders placed through Pizza Hut's online ordering systems for carryout or delivery. Discount does not apply to other menu items, tax, delivery charge, or driver tip."

Pizza Hut has been making investments in the region. Within the last month, the pizza chain reopened its Vandalia location after an extensive makeover. The company recently completed a similar redesign at its restaurant in West Carrollton and will complete another early next year in Bellefontaine, a Pizza Hut spokesman told this news outlet last week.
