Here’s what Tank’s had to say about its new menu items in a post on the Tank’s Bar & Grill Facebook page:

“We are taking our mac and cheese and deep frying it as an snack! “But it wouldn’t be Tanks if we stopped there, (so we also have) a turkey club wrap, turkey club salad, fresh strawberry pie, spiced Georgia peaches off the peach truck topped with Tank’s vanilla bean frozen custard — and maybe a few more surprises.”

Among the new drinks mentioned were RumChata mudslide, mermaid lemonade, and a “dirty mojito.”

Tank’s, at 2033 Wayne Ave. in Dayton, was founded in 1987, and Tankersley’s wife, Debra Tankersley, now oversees the popular gathering spot. She told this news outlet a day after her husband’s death that the bar’s tradition would continue as her husband wanted. “I plan to keep it going for the next 29 years,” Debra Tankersley said.

Response to the menu specials was generally positive in the Facebook comments, including one response that addressed Debra Tankersley directly:

“You made me very hungry, Debbie. Can’t wait to try a couple of the new additions. Dan would be proud of what you’ve been doing.”

Another commenter, however, complained there had been “too many changes.” Tank’s replied that, “These are not permanent changes, just specials for 30 days. Menu is not changing. (We) did add the extra wing sauces and a pork chop dinner, but that is what Tank wanted to do — (he) just didn’t have time to do it.”
