This UD program was named Ohio’s best, and it’s good news for business

The University of Dayton has been listed among the nation’s top 25 entrepreneurship programs in the country for the 12th year in a row.

UD was ranked as the No. 11 best school in the country for undergraduate entrepreneurship studies by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine, according to the university.

UD’s program jumped four spots for the 2018 ranking, making it the highest rated in Ohio and at Catholic colleges nationwide. UD will be featured, along with the 24 other schools, in the Nov. 28 issue of Entrepreneur magazine.

The distinction speaks to the “strength of faculty” and the opportunities available at the university, said Vincent Lewis, director of UD’s L. William Crotty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.

“As an undergraduate, you don’t just read about starting a business, you do it. You can take part in a venture capital fund or even lead a seven-figure student corporation,” Lewis said. “Our faculty, who developed the curriculum and focus their scholarly research on entrepreneurship, connect the classroom to the entrepreneurship ecosystem in our region and around the world. The entrepreneurial spirit is alive here and it’s growing.”

In determining the ranking, Princeton Review evaluated hundreds of schools based on the percentage of faculty, students and alumni actively and successfully involved in entrepreneurial endeavors, the number and reach of mentorship programs, funding for scholarships and grants for entrepreneurial studies and projects, the level of support for school-sponsored business plan competitions and dozens of other areas.
