Police said a 79-year-old woman was backing down her driveway when she ran over and killed her friend, a 69-year-old woman who was visiting for the day.
The victim was walking down the driveway to get the mail when the accident happened.
Police said the driver did not know she had run over her friend, and got out of her car wondering where her friend was. The driver checked under her car and found the victim.
Linda Burns, a neighbor, said she heard the sirens.
“It has to be a horrible feeling for the person who did it,” Burns said.
The Beaver County coroner had not released the victim's name as of Friday evening, pending notification of her family.
