According to a police records, the goat was reported missing March 18 by a family member of the owner of the Topsey Exotic Ranch in Copperas Cove. Police reported that four people in a black Dodge Dart removed a week-old Nigerian dwarf goat, a non-native species, from the petting zoo without the consent of the owner.
"Some people came in and for whatever reason they decided they wanted to take that guy home with them," Stephanie Friedel, a co-owner of the ranch, told the Killeen Daily Herald. "They gave him to somebody else and I got him back three days later at the sheriff's department. I took him to the vet and found out he had a severe respiratory infection and despite our best efforts he ended up not making it."
