West Carrollton swapping free ice cream for redevelopment ideas

West Carrollton is using free ice cream to seek feedback on plans to revitalize the city’s center.

Concepts for future development of the former Fraser Paper Mill and the Olde Downtown area near Elm Street and Central Avenue will be the focus of an ice cream social next week.

City officials and consultants will be on hand for the free event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at 1 E. Central Ave.

The former Fraser and Ahlstrom mill sites include more than 60 acres that have been vacant since being demolished in 2014 and 2015, respectively, after being deeded to the city.

Those properties are part of a study of how to rejuvenate that business district.
