What’s that construction at the Dayton Mall?

A long white barricade blocks off nearly half of the Sears wing at the Dayton Mall, a sign that construction is happening behind.

The RoomPlace at the Miami Twp. shopping center will open later this year, filling more than 50,000 square feet. That totals the length of seven stores that previously filled the space. Of those seven stores, Hats N’ More and FootAction USA have closed.

City Gear is starting construction inside the former Maurice’s space down the aisle in the same mall wing and is operating out of a temporary location near H&M in the meantime. Meowza has permanently relocated to a space near JCPenney.

B’Slayed has moved from the Dayton Mall to a new location at 5250 N. Dixie Drive in Dayton, according to the store’s Facebook page. The Old Navy store formerly in the wing has closed and a new Old Navy is under construction at Austin Landing.

Construction also continues on popular off-price retailer Ross Dress For Less at the Dayton Mall, which will be taking over the old hh gregg location later this year.

“We appreciate the community’s support during this exciting renovation and expect minimal disruption to normal business at Dayton Mall. We are excited about the addition of these in-demand retailers and continue to explore opportunities to add new and interesting uses for our guests,” said Dave Duebber, general manager of Dayton Mall.
