The Contemporary Dayton to reopen with its most popular exhibition

The Contemporary Dayton will reopen Saturday with one of the most popular exhibitions it holds each year.

The 29th Annual Open Members Show, a celebration of more than 100 local and Ohio artists, will be on view July 11 to Aug. 15.

Artists were asked to submit work that spoke to the theme, “Reflections of COVID-19.”

The exhibition was guest curated by Michael Goodson, senior curator of exhibitions at Wexner Center for the Arts.

Willis “Bing” Davis, artist and founder of Dayton’s EbonNia Gallery and the SHANGO Center for The Study of African American Act & Culture, is this year’s prize juror.

Davis will select artworks to receive The Lombard Prize for Best in Show, The Mike Goheen Memorial Award for Emerging Photographers, and The Mayor’s Office Exhibition Award.

The exhibition will open with a Friends & Family Open House on Friday, July 10, from noon - 4 p.m. Prizes will be announced at 3 p.m.

The Co requests that masks be worn and social distancing practiced for the duration of the event.

The Contemporary Dayton is located at 116 N. Jefferson St. in Dayton. The gallery hours are 11 a.m. -4 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday and open until 7 p.m. on Thursday. Closed Sunday and Monday.
