How to help make sure all that Jameson doesn’t go to waste

Q: What do you do with cases of Jameson Whiskey when the Coronavirus cancels your St. Patrick's Day plans for thousands of revelers?

A: There's no good answer, so you'd better get creative.

Steve Tieber, owner of the Dublin Pub, has gotten very creative. He is selling commemorative Jameson bottles signed by the staff that says, "St. Patrick's Day 2020 — I wasn't there." Followed by: "open in the next pandemic.”

"So, if you buy one we will give you a Guinness T-shirt to add to your collection to use at the next POSTPONED ST. PATRICK'S DAY event this summer. We will also deliver it. Or we can also deliver you a Jameson refillable pocket flask filled with 4 oz. of Jameson," wrote Tieber on Facebook. "When this is over The Dublin Pub will be flowing with rivers of Irish Whiskey and Guinness, and of course beer from many of our local microbreweries. Commemorative bottles are $100 and the flask is $15."

This is an incredibly challenging time for all restaurants and every locally owned business.

"Strange Days are upon us. The reality is we have lost 25% of our staff. One week ago, we employed managers, servers, bartenders, food runners & bussers, hosts, cooks and dishwashers. Now, we only have three positions — cooks, order takers, and delivery people. Our intent is to keep our staff with jobs as long as we can. We have cut back hours to accommodate business as best as we can, and we are still accepting carryout and WE ARE doing delivery as well," writes Tieber. "So, in short, all we are asking the public to do, is please support a local business if you are looking to have food delivered or picked up."

"(We are delivering) our mostly full menu. We have had to adapt some items due to their shelf life because we are unsure what the future holds. So, we have our own staff willing to deliver food up to 10 miles. We have to add delivery charges because that goes straight to the employee for the gas being used. We will also deliver beer and liquor," writes Tieber.
